Choosing between seven, eight and ten seats

The Hyundai Staria Lite is the only true 10-seater in the fleet and the one to book if you need to move a whole group in one vehicle. The Nissan Serena S-Hybrid seats eight with sliding doors on both sides and is the easiest to park of the larger MPVs.

Everything else is a seven-seater built around comfort rather than headcount: the Alphard and Vellfire in both AGH30 and AGH40 generations, and the three electric flagships. If your group is six adults with luggage, a seven-seat captain-chair layout will be more comfortable than squeezing eight into a smaller cabin.

Luggage, not just seats

This is where MPVs earn their keep. The Staria Lite has 831 litres behind the last row, the Serena 503 and the Alphard and Vellfire 680 — enough for four or five large cases without folding a seat down.

For airport work that matters more than horsepower. A family of five with a week's luggage fits comfortably in a Serena; the same load in a sedan means someone holding a bag on their lap.

Running costs and packages

MPV deposits are RM500 on the Serena and Staria, and RM1,000 on the Alphard, Vellfire and the electric models. Package discounts are the same as the rest of the fleet: 10% at seven days, 20% at 14, 35% at 21 and up to 55% at 30 days or more.

Two practical points before you book. Tall MPVs do not fit every older basement car park in Kuala Lumpur — the Staria Lite in particular is worth checking against your building's height bar, which is often 2.0 or 2.1 metres. And if you are carrying a child under 11, a child seat is RM10 per day and needs to be requested when you book rather than on the day.
