What you actually get for RM90 a day

Every car in this range is automatic, air-conditioned, fully insured and comes with a reversing camera. These are current-generation Malaysian cars, not stripped-out fleet specials — the Axia AV and Myvi AV are both top-of-range trims, and the Myvi includes ASA driver-assist safety.

Fuel economy is the other reason to book here. The Axia AV returns around 27 km per litre and the Bezza X around 21, so a week of city driving typically costs less than a single tank.

How the price drops with length

Discounts apply automatically — there is no code to remember. Three days is our standard rate and the point at which mileage becomes unlimited. Seven days takes 10% off the daily rate, 14 days 20%, 21 days 35%, and 30 days or more 55% with 4,000 km included per month.

On a 30-day package a Proton Saga Standard or Proton Iriz Standard works out at RM41 per day, delivery included. That is the cheapest long-term rate in our fleet and the reason most of our economy bookings run a month or longer.

One thing worth planning around: the jump from two days to three days is where the economics change. Two-day rentals are capped at 200 km per day and pay delivery both ways, while a three-day rental gets unlimited mileage and free delivery in KL and PJ. A third day often costs less than the fees it removes.

What is included and what is not

Included: excess-liability insurance, road tax, servicing, 24-hour roadside assistance and free self pick-up at all four KLCR branches. Delivery in KL and PJ is RM30 per way and free from three days.

Not included: fuel (handed over and returned at the same level), tolls, traffic summonses, and the refundable deposit — RM300 on every economy car. Child seats are RM10 a day and card payments carry a 3.5% processing fee.
